RMA Worldwide Acquires Eyre Bus Service

RMA

RMA Worldwide Chauffeured Transportation of Rockville, Maryland, has acquired Eyre Bus Service, one of Maryland's most established transportation companies, expanding RMA's presence throughout the state and the Mid-Atlantic while adding significant motorcoach, charter, and shuttle capabilities. Tower Partners, a leading private investment banking and advisory firm focused on the lower middle-market, served as the exclusive sell-side advisor to Eyre Bus Service.

Founded in 1947, Eyre has built a 79-year reputation for safe, reliable and professional transportation throughout Maryland and the greater Washington, D.C., region. The combination brings together two Maryland-based, family-rooted companies with complementary capabilities and a shared commitment to their clients and employees.

“We have tremendous respect for what the Eyre family and their team have built over the past 79 years,” said RMA CEO Robert Alexander. “We are honored to carry that legacy forward. The values that have earned Eyre the trust of generations of customers align closely with RMA's values and the way we operate our business.”

The acquisition expands RMA's capabilities in motorcoach, charter, and shuttle transportation. Eyre has extensive experience serving corporate and employee shuttles, schools and universities, group charters, tours, events, and large-scale transportation programs, complementing RMA's existing operations. RMA, founded in 1988, has been a fixture in the D.C. market for decades.

The combination also further expands RMA's ability to provide transportation solutions ranging from executive sedans and SUVs to Sprinters, minibuses, full-size motorcoaches, employee shuttles, and complex group transportation programs.

Eyre clients will gain access to RMA's broader fleet, technology, 24/7 operational support, and national and global transportation network, while continuing to benefit from the local knowledge, relationships, and personal service for which Eyre is known.

For the Eyre family, the transaction marks a new chapter for a company that has remained family-owned for three generations. As the family transitions its focus away from motorcoach operations and toward its new heavy-duty service venture, finding a partner capable of carrying Eyre's legacy forward was a central consideration, according to the company’s press release.

“Selling a business that has been part of our family for three generations was an incredibly personal decision,” said Eyre President Matt Eyre. “For nearly eight decades, Eyre has been built on trusted relationships, dependable service, and a deep commitment to excellence and integrity. As we looked to the future, it was important to us to find a partner who respected the legacy we have built while sharing our vision for what comes next. We found that partner in RMA Worldwide.”

“We are confident that this partnership will create new opportunities to better serve our customers and employees while preserving the values and personal approach that have defined Eyre for generations,” Eyre added.

Alexander said maintaining Eyre's culture and relationships will be an important part of the transition.

“Growth is important to us, but finding the right companies, and, most importantly, the right people matters most,” Alexander said. “We look forward to welcoming Eyre's employees and clients to the RMA family, preserving what has made the company special, and building on that foundation together.”

The acquisition brings together two long-established Maryland transportation companies and strengthens RMA's ability to serve clients across the chauffeured, motorcoach, shuttle and group transportation markets.
