The New England Livery Association (NELA) annual holiday/quarterly meeting welcomed close to 100 members and guests on December 4 at the Andover Country Club in Andover, Mass. In addition to an evening of networking and fun, the always-popular dinner event doubled as a fundraiser for Home for Little Wanderers, as attendees were encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy (or a cash donation) for the charity.

NELA President Brett Barenholtz of Above All/Maine Limousine welcomed members and spoke about National Limousine Association (NLA) news and happenings, of which he is also president. In addition to revealing plans for the 2026 Day on the Hill, scheduled for April 14-15, Barenholtz discussed the NLA Association Grant Program, which bequeaths money to local associations. NELA was a proud recipient in 2025.

Before giving the floor to representatives from sponsor companies, Barenholtz recognized NELA Executive Director Rick Szilagyi of Lexian Management for more than 20 years of service to the association. Szilagyi and his wife/partner Laurie have been an integral part of NELA activities, and they were presented with a plaque for their efforts.

“For a quarter of a century, Rick has served as our leader, navigator, therapist, air traffic controller, and professional cat herder. By his side, Laurie has been quietly accomplishing the extraordinary—multitasking like a superhero and ensuring that everything runs smoothly. She meticulously manages the financials, balances the books, and tackles every behind-the-scenes task necessary to keep our organization thriving, essentially performing organizational CPR daily,” said Barenholtz. “Together, Rick and Laurie have guided us through numerous challenges, including confrontations with cities, towns, airports, Uber, lawmakers, committees, commissions, and even annual visits to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. I cannot express enough gratitude—thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Entertainment was supplied by NELA’s de facto house DJ Nick Lamberti, who was on hand to spin tunes and supply holiday cheer. NELA Treasurer Terry Murtaugh of United Private Car once again served as the dinner’s unofficial photographer, capturing snapshots of the attendees and merrymakers. Among the items auctioned at the party was a pass to the 2026 CD/NLA Vegas Show, being held March 1-3 at the MGM Grand. The certificate was won by Tami Rutter of Commonwealth Worldwide.
