On August 26, the New England Livery Association (NELA) hosted their highly anticipated annual golf tournament at New England Country Club in Bellingham, Mass. More than 70 golfers, and 15 volunteers, took part in the event. Chauffeur Driven was proud to serve as the afternoon’s Platinum Sponsor.

In addition to a traditionally scored golf tournament, the day included a number of ancillary contests throughout the course. Board Member Britt Kirk of All Points Limousine organized a rotating schedule of events for the day. This included a Golf Cannon, which allowed participants to shoot a ball in excess of 400 yards… without a driver, as well as cornhole and a putting contest.
NELA offered a “spirited” twist on their annual putting contest
“This was the first time we had the cannon at one of our tournaments, and just about every golfer tried it. It was a successful fundraising event,” says Board Member Larry White of Above All/Maine Limousine.
Eschewing the traditional putting contest held at each year’s tourney, the NELA Board set up bottles of spirits across the putting green, allowing participants to keep any bottle they hit with the ball. Sponsored by Above All/Maine Limousine, this was another popular event, according to White.

“We had 30 different bottles on the green, ranging from bottles of beer to a very expensive tequila,” he says.
John Bradley of Colonial Cadillac generously sponsored an electric Lyriq vehicle for the afternoon’s Hole-in-One Contest. Alas, no one took home the grand prize.

“Although no one won, but it was a fun challenge,” says White. “The feedback we received from the golfers was that the course was more challenging than previous years. However, the staff was amazing to work with and knew how to organize an event of this size.”
This year, the foursome from All Points Limousine was the winner of the tournament.

Following the day on the links, NELA hosted a dinner for members and guests, sponsored by Acton Fleet Sales and Commonwealth Worldwide. After the meal, Executive Director Rick Szilyagi of Lexian Management showed a film from Diamond Vendor Member Aurora along with a brief video courtesy of Acton Fleet Sales. Mark Schelfhaudt from Acton was on-hand to deliver a few comments.
Continuing with the golf theme, NELA has scheduled a networking event on September 30 at Topgolf in Canton, Mass. at 6:30 p.m.
