In 2026, all eyes are on Philly as the City of Brotherly Love is primed to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary. And if that wasn’t enough for the regional tourism industry, this summer Philadelphia is hosting a number of FIFA World Cup Games and the MLB All-Star Game. And you can bet the operators of the Philadelphia Regional Livery Association (PRLA) will be prepared.

On April 8, the association held their spring membership meeting at Maggiano’s Italian Grill in King of Prussia, Pa. More than two dozen members and guests attending the dinner event, including CD Editor Rob Smentek. In addition to abundant networking, PRLA board members offered best practices for group moves within Philadelphia.
Following a delicious multi-course meal, PRLA President Tracy Saligner of Unique Chauffeured Services offered up tips and insight for moving clients throughout the city during what will be the busiest period the area has seen in years. Salinger covered the basics, including having proper insurance, equipment, and staff for handling moves. She also highlighted the importance of not ignoring regular clients and watching your costs. Based on her recent experience of driving in Center City, Salinger pointed out that motorcoach work is difficult, particularly in Olde City where the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall are located. She stressed that it’s important to know drop-off and pick-up locations, as police and the parking authority have limited, to no, patience for improper loading areas.

Secretary Anthony Clinton of Dav El/BostonCoach emphasized the importance of doing “dry runs” (particularly at the stadiums for the FIFA matches) and getting client itineraries early. The pair also advised having at least one coordinator on site, particularly with larger group moves, and most importantly they recommended that clients be charged for this service. Ultimately, it was shared that the best practice is to have the right people in the right job when handling this type of important work.
Following the presentation, the membership collectively decided to form a What’s App group so that operators can share rates during these summer months to help with the inevitable affiliate work. Furthermore, Lucky Takhar of ANB Trans and Vendor Director John Arone of Acrisure announced that they will be partnering to represent the association at the airport. This will be vital during the busy summer months when TNCs will be flooding PHL.

Also discussed at the meeting was the issue of ticketing livery vehicles in bus lanes. PRLA members have been flooded with fines since SEPTA buses have been equipped with cameras to issue penalties for vehicles that simply cross into bus lanes. This has made drop-offs next to impossible at downtown hotels. Ace Shaer of Ace Limousine and Airport Service revealed that he met with several city and parking authority representatives about the issue, and they have pledged to not issue violations for BA/BN tags. While no official statement has been made, this is a victory for the luxury ground transportation industry, and PRLA members will be watching closely.
Before concluding for the evening, Salinger discussed this week’s NLA Day on the Hill, and encouraged members to donate to the national association’s PAC fund.
The next PRLA meeting is scheduled for the end of July, with plans for it to be held at a local skeet shooting range.
