It was a change of scenery for the Philadelphia Regional Livery Association (PRLA) when they hosted their summer membership meeting on July 16 at Spasso Italian Grill in the Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia. The lunchtime event attracted more than 40 members and guests including CD Editor Rob Smentek.

PRLA President Tracy Salinger of Unique Chauffeured Services kicked off the meeting shortly after noon by welcoming three new operators to the association’s growing membership. Then Board Member Briana Candeub of Park Avenue Worldwide introduced the day’s guest speaker Atif Saeed, CEO of Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). A former operator in the Midwest, Saeed views the industry as an important ally. He provided a slideshow, which demonstrated the corporate structure of the airport and provided quick statistics (e.g., PHL saw 30.8 million passengers in 2024). Chief among the topics discussed was what’s coming in 2026. With Philadelphia being the birthplace of our country, you can bet that it will see millions of visitors as we celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States. Add coming sports events—March Madness, FIFA World Cup, PGA, and the MLB All-Star Game—and you can guarantee the airport (and our industry) with be bustling next year. Saeed shared that PHL’s strategic plan for 2026 includes the mission statement “proudly connecting Philadelphia with the world.” After his presentation, Saeed fielded questions from the membership, notably concerning illegal operators, which the CEO calls “scoopers.” He said that there are consequences for hustlers at the terminals, including fines and vehicles being towed, and that PHL is “committed to improvements.” Additionally, Saeed says he is willing to look into adding automatic payment for the AVI system that tracks all commercial vehicles in the lots. PRLA Secretary Ryan Shaer of Ace Limousine & Airport Services called this a win for the association.

Next, PRLA Treasurer Claribel Ortiz of Trophy Limousine provided an update of the camera systems now in place by the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA). Several members reported being cited after their vehicles were photographed in bus lanes and loading zones. These fines are generally $51-$76 per offence. Ortiz distributed a handout outlining the PPA initiative, which will give operators an idea of how to avoid these fines.

Maryland Livery Association (MLA) Board Member Alex Church of Acrisure was welcomed by the group to share about the MLA Summer Soiree being held July 23-24 at Turf Valley Country Club outside of Baltimore. He provided a short overview and invited all PRLA members to attend.

The meeting concluded with a thank you to Past President Tony Viscusi who recently retired from the industry after many years. Salinger thanked him for his long service as one of the founders of the association.

The next PRLA meeting will be a dinner event held in September (location & date TBD).
