The Philadelphia Regional Livery Association (PRLA) invited their members to il Granaio in Phoenixville on Wednesday, September 17, for an evening of networking, fresh ideas, and great food sponsored by Aurora Payments. Thirty members from throughout the tri-state area attended the dinner, which put a special emphasis on creative problem solving.

“This meeting was very interactive,” says PRLA President Tracy Salinger of Unique Chauffeured Transportation. “Instead of a formal educational session, we did roundtables. We had groups of four or five operators, which allowed them to get more involved. It was really great.”
Topics included scaling a company from a single-car operation, roadside emergencies when you’re away from your home base, legal and ethical options for reducing insurance costs, and performing sales without a dedicated salesperson.
“These topics challenged us,” says Salinger. “I love roundtables. I have found personally that I learn more from a roundtable setting. Being interactive and talking through a problem really helps me.”
The association also discussed matters relating to SEPTA public transit in Philadelphia. Recently, buses have been equipped with AI cameras to photograph (and ticket) vehicles that encroach on a bus lane. In many cases, this has made curbside drop-off a challenging—and expensive—issue for operators in the city. Many members have received tickets. As a result, the PRLA board has drafted a letter to the Philadelphia Parking Authority detailing the issue.

“It’s a nightmare. Our Philly-based operators are getting fined by the truckload,” says Salinger. “We realize that they have to do enforcement, but we need them to do it fairly.”
Also at the meeting, the PRLA board announced that Anthony Clinton of Dav El/BostonCoach will serve as the association’s new secretary.
“We’re very excited to have him with us. He’s amazing,” adds Salinger.
Before concluding the event, the PRLA raffled of a CD/NLA Show pass for the Fall event at the Gaylord Texan. The winner was Maknun Pasha of Voyage Limousine.
“I was thrilled to see someone younger and newer in the industry win the pass,” says Salinger.
