NLA President Gary Buffo of Pure Luxury Transportation
Marlton, N.J. — With a new year and a new decade comes a new milestone for the National Limousine Association (NLA): The voice of the worldwide chauffeured transportation industry celebrates its 35th anniversary this year.
To mark this celebratory occasion, the association is debuting its anniversary logo today, and has plenty more in store for the year to come.
“The NLA has been a pillar of our industry for the past three and half decades, providing our members with education, advocacy, and support,” said President Gary Buffo of Pure Luxury Transportation. “Just as the industry has evolved over the years, the NLA has seen its fair share of growth and change as well. It has been an honor to be a part of the NLA’s latest chapter, and I am looking forward to seeing what this new era brings to the NLA and its members.”
One of its earliest 2020 offerings will be an in-person membership meeting at the first-ever CD/NLA Show in Las Vegas (held at the beautiful Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino from February 23-26). The meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 24, from 9:45 to 11:15 a.m. and will be graciously sponsored by National Interstate Insurance.

At the meeting, you can expect to hear about what the NLA has been up to and its plans for the next year, directly from the mouths of NLA leaders. Additionally, Cornerstone Government Affairs, the NLA’s lobbying team, will not only report on what is happening in Washington, D.C., but also discuss what to expect in 2020 leading up to the election.
“The NLA encourages you to come to the meeting, ask questions, and get involved with your association,” said NLA Executive Director Kyle Hammerschmidt.
In an event full of firsts, the CD/NLA Las Vegas Show will also see Buffo presenting the first-ever President’s Award during Tuesday night’s Awards Dinner & Charity Event, and you won’t want to miss it!
“With a new show on the horizon and the constant addition of new programs and initiatives, there is no better time to celebrate this milestone anniversary,” Buffo said. “Congratulations on an incredible 35 years to all NLA members!”

Secretary Chad Peterson of Renee’s Limousines
Vice President Bernie Fautch of Eclipse Global Transportation
President Gus Ortis of Executive Transportation
Minneapolis, Minn. — The Minnesota Chauffeured Transportation Association (MCTA) will be holding its annual holiday reception January 19 and invites all association members to come celebrate industry camaraderie as well as a successful end to a busy year.
The association held its last 2019 meeting December 2 in St. Paul, where President Gus Ortis of Executive Transportation discussed a new dues structure for 2020, welcomed four new members, and introduced an array of guest speakers.
Steve Holes of the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) passed around updates on construction for Highway 5. He reported that rates will increase for commercial vehicles by 3.45 percent to $3.47/trip, and that both TNCs and hotel transportation will be moving to the taxi area, nothing that there are 22,000 TNC licenses at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Marcell Walker, Supervisor for State Programs at MnDOT, reported that rulemaking will be a two-year effort, and they have completed 60 percent of the limousine industry audits, while Jennifer Breitinger of the Minnesota Governmental Relations Council spoke about various insurance issues and gave a brief legislative update. Breitinger answered questions about uninsured vehicles, existing limits, minimum level increases, and Performance-based Incentive Payment Program (PIPP).
At the December meeting, members unanimously voted for the 2020 MCTA Board of Directors to remain the same. They are once again:
President: Gus Ortis of Executive Transportation
Vice President: Bernie Fautch of Eclipse Global Transportation
Secretary: Chad Peterson of Renee’s Limousines
Members attended the December 2 meeting of the MCTA “Congratulations to our 2020 MCTA Board of Directors, and thank you for your continued service,” Ortis said. “As members together, we make the MCTA strong. Thank you for trusting me to lead in this role and feel free to reach out to me anytime.”
Earlier this month, MCTA accepted an associate membership from the neighboring Wisconsin Limousine Association, facilitating an increased exchange of information between the two associations to the benefit of operators and vendors serving both Midwestern states.
The January 19 holiday party will be association’s next event; the MCTA invites all members and their guests to enjoy an evening of food, drinks, entertainment and a short program at Kieran’s Irish Pub. Those interested in attending can RSVP to MCTA staff member Leslie Rosedahl at leslie@rosedahlpublicaffairs.com.
