It’s with a tremendously heavy heart that we share the passing of Joseph DiDomenico, the founder, president, and CEO of Syracuse-based American Limousine of Central New York, who succumbed to injuries following a tragic snowmobile accident on January 1. The Liverpool, N.Y. resident was 55, just two weeks shy of his 56th birthday.

A young entrepreneur, Joe launched American Limousine in 1989 with one vehicle when he was just 19, which he grew into a prospering family operation with more than 30 vehicles. Known for his gregarious nature, blunt delivery, and ever-present smile, Joe was a regular attendee at various industry events, and equally a regular presence on Facebook where he proudly documented his favorite people (his family, friends, and company employees), furry friends (his dogs regularly made a cameo) and hobbies, including motorcycling.

He was a longtime member of the Limousine, Bus, and Taxi Operators of Upstate New York, where he helped to champion and shape legislation for operators in the state—including legislation following the Schoharie limousine accident that claimed 20 lives.

According to his obituary: “A true people person, Joseph was known for his loyalty and selflessness. Joseph was authentic and spoke his mind freely and without filter, a trait that made him unforgettable to those who knew him best. He always went out of his way to take care of those around him, earning the admiration and love of extended family and friends. His warm presence and kind heart will be sorely missed by all who knew him.”

Joe is survived by his wife Lisa Ann, son Joey, and daughters Juliana and Elissa. Our heartfelt and enduring condolences to his family and all who loved him.

He was laid to rest on January 12. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his name to Our Lady of Pompei Church, 301 Ash Street, Syracuse.
