Richard and Theresa Callahan, owners of Jax Black Car, have announced their retirement from the industry, thus concluding operations for their Northern Florida-based company effective June 2, 2025. The announcement was made on June 3.

Jax Black Car was a “new chapter” project for the Callahans after the family relocated to Florida in 2010 following Rich’s retirement from the Chicago Fire Department. To keep busy, Rich began driving school buses locally, which led to him becoming a CDL instructor and president of the union. Parlaying his love for driving into a business, the couple officially opened Jax Black Car in 2013, catering to ultra-high-net-worth individuals, but expanding their services and operations in the subsequent years.
The couple were joined by both of their adult children, Kelly and Connor, who focused on operations and fleet management, respectively. It was announced that Kelly had joined Urban Worldwide in San Francisco by Urban CEO Dave Uziel on June 2.

After more than a decade of service, Jax Black Car Transportation officially concluded operations on June 2, 2025. Owners Richard and Theresa Callahan made the decision to retire, closing this chapter with immense pride in the company they built and the relationships formed along the way.
