GCLA President Mo Garkani presented Brodsly with its 2019 Award of Excellence at a membership meeting held in Los Angeles on May 14. Garkani stated the award was being presented to Brodsly and the entire Chosen Payments team for “generous donations, recognition of outstanding professionalism, support, sponsorship and industry involvement in California.” Garkani went on to say, “As much as you’ve done, I don’t think there is any possibility that we could ask for more.”
Upon receiving the award, Brodsly quickly turned the attention to the many Chosen Payments staff members in attendance and recognized their efforts. During an acceptance speech, Brodsly said, “Without my team, we would be nothing. I can’t stand up here and say I did this. Congratulations, Chosen Team.” Brodsly then invited team members to join him on stage.
After receiving the award, Brodsly shared his passion for helping Chosen Payments merchants grow its businesses through weekly educational articles, support of regional, state, and national associations, and, of course, the continued commitment to help their partner associations grow their membership. Brodsly believes the strength in numbers can make a difference through membership volume discounts as well as being heard in legislation. Chosen Payments is sponsoring the NLA’s upcoming Day on the Hill, and Brodsly and Chosen Payments staff members will once again walk the halls of Congress with fellow NLA members.

Bouweiri founded Sterling Women Giving Circle in late 2018 to act as a multiplier on the giving power of women in Loudoun County. She led the effort to attract members to the Circle, who were asked to contribute in $100 shares, with each share entitling the donor to one vote for a grant recipient.
Members raised $10,000 for the organization’s first grant and selected Loudoun Hunger Relief as its first beneficiary. Bouweiri announced the donation at the May 2 Sterling Women luncheon, a monthly networking event that she founded in 2008 to support and mentor local businesswomen.
“This is a remarkable community effort, with women helping families in need in Loudoun—really helping other women feed their children,” said Bouweiri, a longtime Loudoun County resident. “The power of all of us coming together is amazing. It is a testament to the strength of women helping women that we were able to raise $10,000 in the first year.”
Loudoun Hunger Relief, which has served the community since 1991, will be using the grant to purchase a Mobile Food Pantry vehicle. The vehicle will travel throughout Loudoun County, bringing pantry services to low-income neighborhoods with transportation challenges.
“Loudoun Hunger Relief is humbled and honored to be the inaugural recipient of the Sterling Women Giving Circle grant. At Loudoun Hunger, we see the power of community every day, and we believe in the impact of neighbors helping neighbors. This grant is so meaningful because it is truly a gathering of community to meet the most basic of needs: the need for food,” said Loudoun Hunger Relief Executive Director Jennifer Montgomery.
