The latest generation i4 Coach from bus manufacturer Irizar is here and offers significant new features that mainly focus on a major reduction in weight and optimal per-axle load distribution. The modifications could shave up to 955 kg off the curb weight, depending on the chosen configuration. The i4 model first made its debut at Busworld in 2019, and was especially created for urban and intercity routes.
The i4 is currently not available in the US, although the i6 is sold exclusively through Irizar USA’s headquarters in Henderson, Nevada.
According to Irizar, the focus on efficiency, sustainability, and profitability will generate significant fuel savings of up to 5 percent and, therefore, improvements in CO2 emissions reductions. The implemented solutions include the use of high-strength steel and composite materials to replace traditional structural materials, as well as new seats, with weight optimisation and greater space between them, thus enhancing passenger comfort and experience.
The innovations that have been introduced to the vehicle have made it possible to offer new seat layouts, providing versatility and maximum adaptation for a wide range of customers. The new Irizar i4 model range includes a new coach version, a 13.23 m vehicle on a 4x2 chassis, with a maximum capacity of 63 seat spaces (59 + 1 PRM), with up to 34 standing places and luggage compartment volume exceeding 6m3.
The various door configurations—with single, wide single and double door options—enable lifts to be installed to facilitate access for persons with reduced mobility, and different power options make it
The i4 is available in a wide range of configuration options and advanced safety systems to meet the demands of metropolitan and suburban service, school, or corporate transport.
